Papers, ca. 1943-1945.

Contains a short description of Topham's military service, his capture during the Battle of the Bulge in Germany, and his eventual death in a hospital due to his treatment in German prisoner camps. Includes a personal letter from his brother that describes his feelings towards Dewey, and the strength and hope that Dewey derived from his Bible. Photographs show Topham's Bible, retrieved from the German prisoner camp, and Topham in full military dress.

Topham served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 until his death on June 24, 1945. He was a member of the 18th Cavalry squad and worked as an observer on the front lines.
